Ever since the first African took a step in America, African Americans have always been oppressed. This oppression took its form in slavery, then evolved to Jim Crow laws, and in today's world, it takes its form in redlining, which ultimately contributes to the Racial Wealth Gap. In the United States today, African Americans face unequal education, unequal job opportunities, unfair incarceration rates, and many more inequalities which all stem from redlining. African American progression has been very limited due to redlining, and as long as its effects still impact the African American community, the Racial Wealth Gap will continue to thrive, eating away at our country's ideals of equality, liberty, and justice.
